CANON EOS M6 MK2 MODEL

Plasticity 3D 2025.2 Project

PLASTICITY 2025.2 PRACTICE

Canon EOS M6 Mk2 3D Build

The Project

Plasticity 3D had a mayor upgrade lately with loads of new features and improvements including the industry standard ‘Class A Surface Modelling’ so thought I’d give it a go creating my camera body. It has loads of tricky surfaces and geometry like the grip, diamond edging etc.

I wanted to model some extreme details to see how Plasticity ports with a high level model. Took a while to work out the best settings from the extensive output choice, looks pretty smooth to me. There is two areas where I noticed jumps in surfaces but this is only from my end not being 100% accurate with NURBS.

The Execution

I took reference photos from all angles and imported into Plasticity as guide plane then scaled these to correct dimensions. Next step was to create the construction/guide curves from top. Next step to patch n loft the framework. The grip was challenging as there is two joining curved shapes intersecting. Used XNURBS patch modelling here and all worked out ok.

Once done in Plasticity I exported as hi-res OBJ file. This gives me all the parts properly labelled and a good mesh. Then texture all the parts, light and render in Corona, happy days.
